Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice... It's Showtime

Beetlejuice is about a couple, Adam and Barbara Malitland, who happen to be dead.  Barbara and Adam live in a house that has just been recently moved into by another couple, Charles and Delia Deetz, and their daughter, Lydia. The only person who can see the deceased couple is Lydia. The Malitlands want the Deetzes out of their house so they seek guidance from Juno, their afterlife caseworker. Juno tells them that they must stay in the house for 125 years and if they want the Deetzes out of their house then they will have to scare them out. The Malitlands try desperately to get the Deetzes out, but they have no luck. So the Malitlands take matters into their own hands despite the warnings from Juno. They call upon Beetlejuice who is supposed to scare away the Deetzes but he has other plans in mind. With his rude and morbid demeanor they reconsider and regret hiring him. Charles Deetz decides that the frightening events that have happened because of Beetlejuice could make his new home. Charles tries to explain to his boss Maxie Dean that the supernatural is real, but he doesn’t and wants to see it for himself.  Otho, the interior designer, comes to the house to conduct a séance and summons Adam and Barbara. Surprisingly they begin to decay. Horrified, Lydia summons Beetlejuice to help her new friends but he will only agree if Lydia agrees to marry him. Beetlejuice quickly disposes of Maxie, his wife and Otho to prepare for the wedding. Surprisingly the Malitlands intervene before the ceremony is completed. The Deetzes and Malitlands agree to live in harmony in the house together. Meanwhile Beetlejuice is waiting in the afterlife reception area, where he angers a witch doctor, who shrinks his head.

Sincerely yours... The Breakfast Club

Andy the jock, Brian the brain, Bender the criminal, Claire the princess, and Allison the basket case are all sent to Saturday detention. At 7 a.m. they would not even think about talking to one another; but by 4 p.m. they had bared their souls to each other and became good friends. Each from a different clique gathers in the High school library. Although they are all different they are more alike than they think. They spend the day arguing, breaking the rules, sharing secrets, and becoming friends. From the famous dancing scene, to the brilliant secret sharing scene The Breakfast Club will always be a favorite among the generations still to come.  After spending a day in detention they all found out that each one of them is indeed a Brain, and an Athlete, and a Basket Case, a Princess, and a Criminal.

I can't believe they forgot my birthday

Sophomore Sam Baker’s 16th birthday is a borderline catastrophe.  Her family is so caught up in her sister’s marriage that takes place the next day, they forget about her birthday. She is also has a new infatuation with senior Jake Ryan. Sam is embarrassed when Jake finds a piece of paper with sensitive information concerning her love for him. What Sam doesn’t know is that Jake also has feelings for her as well. Ted, an unwanted geek, who is constantly trying to win Sam over, goes to a party at Jakes house. Although unwelcomed, Ted goes and speaks to Jake after Jake finds him trapped to the coffee table. Jake tells Ted about his situation with Sam. Jake makes a deal with Ted and allows Ted to take home Jakes drunk unwanted girlfriend, Caroline, in Jake’s father’s Rolls Royce. Jake later uses the excuse of finding them together as a reason to break up, which Caroline does not mind. Afterward, Jake drives to the church where Sam is attending her sister’s wedding. In the end Jake and Sam share a kiss over a cake with 16 candles.

Introduction to this blog

Movies have brought laughter, sadness, and frightened hearts to people all around the world for decades. The first movie was created in the late 70’s, which was a picture of a man riding a moving horse (SLAC linac Coherent light source). Movies have come a long way since then. There are thousands and thousands of movies out there. This blog is about the ones from the 80’s specifically. Many of the movies from the 80's are now considered classics. Movies from the 80's tested the way that people acted, dressed, or went about everyday life. Film budgets skyrocketed and more people tried to gain a career in the film industry. The weekly postings for this blog will be about movies all throughout the 80’s. I chose this topic because most of the movies I enjoy are from the 80’s. Although my favorite movie from the 80's is Dirty Dancing.
